Untitled Halloween Story

Air Junior is the seventh episode that Fox aired of the animated Little Shop TV series.

When Audrey gets a job as a used-shoe salesman, Junior encourages Seymour to get a new pair of sneakers, then he uses his vegetable magnetism on the rubber soles to make Seymour fly.

  • Mr. Mushnick remarks to Audrey, "Last week you wanted to be a refrigerator repairman," (referencing Real Men Aren't Made of Quiche), and "two weeks ago, a fireman" (referencing Bad Seed). Numbers on production art indicate that I Loathe a Parade was the third episode produced, but this dialogue indicates that the script for this show was written first.
  • Seymour exclaims, "Close encounter of the extra-terrestrial kind!" Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial were both directed by Steven Spielberg.
  • Ped Sullivan is a sendup of TV host Ed Sullivan.
  • Since Skid Row is in New York, it seems strange that Ped Sullivan would have a pair of orthopedic shoes previously owned by The Little Old Lady from Pasadena, which is in California.
  • We get our first glimpse of Malocclusia Driller hanging laundry on a clothesline during the song "I'm Flyin'." Like Seymour, her hair is flesh colored here, but otherwise it seems to be the same character design.
  • During the song "I'm flyin'," Seymour refers to himself as "Larry the bird." This is an allusion to NBA basketball player Larry Bird who, at the time, was a household name.
  • The Footwear Blimp is a takeoff of The Goodyear Blimp.
  • There's a bizarre cut in the animation during the song "I Could Have Made a Lot of Feet Happy" when Audrey asks, "Why's life so hard on a girl..." It's unclear whether the song was cut down or if it was just a bad edit.
